TAP Portugal
Minors - Additional Assistant
At the request of the parents or legal guardians of a child, TAP can arrange for a Monitor for minors with ages ranging from three (3) months to five (5) years of age in the event these are traveling alone.
When making a reservation you should mention what language is spoken by the child.
Babies younger than 3 months of age are not allowed.
All children between 3 months and 4 years inclusive of age travelling alone require companions.
Minors must be accompanied to the airport and throughout the entire check-in procedure and customs formalities by the parents, legal guardians or someone authorized by one of the latter, and remain in the airport until flight departure. Equally, minors are required to have someone waiting for them at their destination airport, by someone authorized by their parents or legal guardians.
Parents or guardians are responsible for arranging for the minor's necessary travel documents. They have to fill out an ID document for minors signed by the parents or legal guardians.
The hostess will occupy a seat which will be charged. In addition to the cost incurred by the child monitor, the child will also be charged an adult ticket price and not the respective child tariff.
The amount corresponds to a One Way ticket tariff and will be based on the flight origin and destination. For example, on a Funchal - Lisbon - London flight, if the child only requires a monitor for the Funchal - Lisbon leg, the tariff to be charged for the hostess service will be the price published for Funchal - London, regardless of whether the same completes the Lisbon - London leg or not.
Cancellations:
If the minor is a no-show or the Additional Assistant is cancelled less than four days prior to departure, no reimbursement is available.
Prices to be paid for Additional Assistants:
A one-way, full-fare price is applied.
Children and/or babies pay 100% of the normal or special price for adult passengers.
Unaccompanied Minors
All children up to 3 months of age should always be accompanied by an adult older than 18 years of age.
From 3 months to 4 years inclusive or if an additional assistant is requested or can be accompanied by someone as long as this person is at least 15 years old and able to care for the child during the entire trip, including all airport formalities.
When an adult travels with 2 babies, seat reservation for one of them is mandatory, with the 2nd baby having to be accompanied by an additional assistant to be paid for.
From 3 to 4 years, inclusive, they can be accompanied by another passenger from 12 to 15 years of age as long as the "Unaccompanied Minor" procedures are applied to both.
Minors of 5 years of age or older are not "Unaccompanied Minors", as long as they are accompanied by a passenger of at least 12 years of age, as long as this person demonstrates the capacity to be able to accompany him/her during the trip, including airport formalities.
From 5 to 11 years of age, passengers that travel along are always "Unaccompanied Minors".
From 12 to 17 years of age, inclusive, they can be exclusively "Unaccompanied Minors" at the request of the parents.
Waiting list reservations are not allowed.
If the flight is full, choose another date - include the names of the companions that take and receive the children in the departure and arrival airports.
Fees:
"Unaccompanied Minor" from 5 to 7 years: Pay 100% of the applicable adult fee for the trip
"Unaccompanied Minor" from 8 to 11 years: Normally pay the applicable Child rate for the trip; however, it will be necessary to consult the price observation in order to see exceptions.
